Missional Community | Core Team Roles

Core Teams

A group of 5 to 10 people from a missional community will form a team that will lead an initiative on behalf of the church.

Core Team Leader
Global i staff and other leaders will select the Core Team Leader for each mission initiative of the church.  The CTL will serve as the point person in mobilizing the church to initiate a strategy leading to a missionary movement among its chosen people group.  The Core Team Leader will build and lead the core team.

The CTL coordinates with core team members who will fulfill the following roles:
Logistics
One or two core team members will recruit and lead people from the missional community to develop and maintain a systematic process for moving people, materials, and financial support to the region where the church’s mission initiative will be implemented.  This sub-team will be responsible for organizing the details of short-term mission trips.  They will form appropriate relationships with field contacts that can facilitate moving people, materials, and finances.  The logistics sub-team will develop and maintain a cost-budget system to predict and organize income and expenses in the initiative.  Fundraising beyond budget would take place outside of the church and would not compete with regular tithing and giving practices.
Prayer and Communications
One or two of the core team will recruit and lead a sub-team from the missional community of believers to assist in developing prayer advocacy tools for their focus people group.  Activities of this group could involve writing, graphics, photography, and videography.  This sub-team will organize a process of identifying prayer needs relevant to the church’s engagement of the people group, of providing timely praise reports, and of recruiting prayer warriors.  They can organize prayer events, prayer groups, or prayer vigils.  The sub-team will offer people group and prayer updates for the church website and other appropriate communication venues.
Training
One or two of the core team will work with others in the missional community to prepare for teaching and discipleship opportunities.  This sub-team will coordinate with field partners and full-time missionaries to determine appropriate materials and methods needed in catalytic training for reproducing disciples, leaders, and churches.  This group will also provide training for trainers sent out from the church.
Ministry
One or two core team members will coordinate with others to plan community service or human needs projects that will be an integral part of the overall strategy to reach their focus people.  This sub-team will gather resources or network with others to provide any skills, equipment, or materials needed for service among the focus community.
