LifePoint is a faith community that desires to meet the needs of our local community through acts of service and creating environments where people can connect with one another in authentic relationships. This page reflects three unique avenues of connection with our community. Compassion Ministries are organizations and projects where people meet ongoing needs in our community. Small Group Initiatives are where groups find unique and creative ways to meet needs and serve people. Opportunities for Influence are where people express their passion for a particular interest or hobby and invest in relationships to influence people into the LifePoint community.

Room in the Inn

Room in the Inn provides shelter, meals, clothing, and toiletries to homeless men during the winter months (November - March).

Needs:

  • Volunteers for Friday nights to extend friendship and a helping hand.
  • Donations of winter clothing and toiletries

Christian Men’s Job Corp – website

CMJC teaches people to break the cycle of generational poverty through Christ-centered training and education. Participants are people who want to learn or improve their life skills—specifically work, budget, and family-related skills.

Needs:

  • Volunteer teachers and mentors are needed for one-on-one relationships, Bible study and encouragement. Help us to help more of our neighbors in Northern Rutherford County.

Wherry Housing Community - website
Serve alongside LifePoint community missionaries in an afterschool program for underprivileged kids from Wherry Housing. Volunteer opportunities from handyman work to teaching English to immigrants.

Holding Out Hope - website
Holding Out Hope exists to bring the hope of Christ to women in the prison system and those newly paroled.  Women are discovering their worth in Christ so they can live the extraordinary life God designed for them.
Needs:
  • Postage stamps— we give over 500 stamps to inmates
  • Give me FIVE— $5 donations provides an inmate a dinner and toiletry bag
  • Toothbrushes and bar soap for inmates
  • Volunteer to serve

Council on International Educational Exchange - website

Open your home and your heart to an international exchange student. As a CIEE host family, you will offer a young international student the opportunity to discover America through your eyes. Your family will not only gain a new family member, you will also learn about a different culture, its values and traditions, language, food, and more. Disciple the nations without leaving home!

Shepherd’s Rest Ministries - website
Be a friend to an international student! Shepherd’s Rest reaches out to international students at MTSU.
Needs:
  • Help provide a meal for 40-50 international students, perhaps coordinating it through your Sunday School class or Small Group.
  • Be a First Friend family for an international student by meeting together at least once a month.
  • Host an international student(s) at a holiday gathering.
  • Partner with MTSU students to reach out to international students. Maintain Missionary House in Murfreesboro for international missionaries on home leave.

Right Road Ministries and Victory House - website
Right Road assists homeless men and women to find housing and provides food and clothes for people who are in need. We disciple men and women who are starting over with a new life.
Needs:
  • Christian mentors
  • Financial supporters
  • Volunteers for building renovations
  • Volunteers to organize the clothes closet
  • Food, toiletries, and household items
Victory House provides housing for women released from prison or in transition. Women are discipled as they find a job, a new place to live, and reintegrate into society.
Opportunities for Service:
  • Provide transportation to work
  • Lead Bible studies
  • Help with meals on special occasions
  • Be a friend and mentor

The Journey Home
The Journey Home provides daily meals and personal necessities to the homeless of Rutherford County. Their ministry center is located in the heart of Murfreesboro. Join with an existing team or go as a small group to prepare and serve meals to the homeless.

Helping Hands
Helping Hands offers emergency assistance to Smyrna and LaVergne families in crisis. Families receive help with past due rent, utility bills and other basic services/needs.
Needs and Opportunities:
  • Donations of non-perishable food items.
  • Volunteer to help with food closet and food boxes.
  • Sponsor a child and donate gifts for annual Christmas tree program.
  • Volunteer to distribute donations and gifts.

Smyrna/LaVergne Food Bank offers people in need (once per month) canned goods, milk, cheese, butter and eggs based on the size and income of the family. Larger families get more canned goods. Donate nonperishable food, canned goods

Help working families to build affordable homes and rebuild neighborhoods in Rutherford County. Volunteer opportunities begin in 2011.

Disaster Relief and Recovery
Join a network of volunteers who serve people in crisis locally and throughout the U.S.  Volunteers needed to help clean-up, repair, renovate and build homes affected by natural disasters. Also serve local people in need because of sickness or disability.

Baseball
Fielder’s Choice is a group of baseball enthusiasts who lead player and coach's clinics as well as Chapel Services for any traveling baseball, softball or soccer teams. FC representatives will come to your tournament on any Sunday and lead Chapel. Founded and led by former MLB Pitcher Charlie Mitchell, FC is comprised of leaders who represent various levels of baseball, including Little League, High School, College, Minor Leagues and Major League Baseball. The Coach's Clinic is a training event where coaches learn the basics of baseball, how to run a practice and how to involve parents.
