Connect to a Small Group

Success at FBCSmyrna is defined by how effectively our ministries move people from our large environments into small groups. Our desire is that everyone who calls FBCSmyrna home will be connected to a small group for growth, ministry, connection, and fun. Community at FBCSmyrna is at its best when people gather together in small groups to live, as we call it, life-on-life.

At FBCSmyrna, the small group is the best place for sustained life change to occur. In a small group, people study God's Word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life. It's also where they pray, care for one another, and are missed if they don't show up.

Small groups, what are they?
They are made up of five to six couples or five to eight individuals and are the place where people are personally encouraged and challenged in their relationship with God and each other. Small Group life is a group of people seeking authentic, Christ-centered community through discipleship and service. If you have more questions, read the Top 10 Questions about Small Groups.

6 Reasons why you should be in a Small Group

1. Understand the Bible better through group discussion as you apply the Bible to your own personal situations.

2. Develop close relationships with other believers who will walk beside you in your journey as a Christ follower.

3. Find answers to the needs in your life through group prayer.

4. Get support in times of crisis or major changes from people who really care for you.

5. Demonstrate to your lost friends the love of Christ in a non-church setting.

6. Move from being a spectator to a participant by using your gifts and talents as you serve others.

Connect to Others through Small Groups
We know it can be difficult to move from a large gathering like Sunday worship and take the step of making a commitment to a small group of people. And because we know that we want to help you take that step at a pace and in environment that will be safe, encouraging, and successful. Here are some suggested steps to help you connect to a small group:
1. GroupLink — periodic event where you meet others interested in connecting to a small group
2. Connecting with Membership — membership class that covers the mission and motivation behind FBCSmyrna, led by FBCSmyrna staff
3. Drop by the Guest Services Booth following each service on Sunday where Small Group Staff will be available to answer your questions and suggest small group opportunities
4. Email: Eddie Mosley, Executive Director of GroupLife
